Jim Johnson isn't sure if a new venue is the reason for a surge in attendance at a weekly non-denominational Bible study.

Johnson, who has been leading the study for the past 4-5 years, said the study first began at First United Church of Christ and prior to that for a couple of years under the leadership of Pastor Gale Green. Those who attended then went out for lunch, Johnson said.

"I subbed for Pastor Gale now and then and she just said 'it's yours,'" Johnson said. One of the original members, Dave Smith, who is now deceased, suggested they go to the senior center and have lunch and fellowship at the center.
